BUSINESS TECHNOLOGY

Measure value and improve

Regularly check whether technology is delivering the improvement you expected. Compare current results with your starting point, looking at actual usage, costs, time spent, errors, service quality, and business results.

Include the effort required for training, support, and ongoing administration when judging value. If a tool saves time, decide how that time will support additional useful work, better service, or lower expenses.

Ask employees where problems remain and investigate whether the cause is the tool, its setup, or the process around it. Improve systems that provide value, and replace or cancel those that no longer meet the business’s needs.
