CONSTRAINTS
Relieve constraints when justified
If the constraint still prevents you from reaching your goals, consider a larger change. Depending on the cause, this could involve training, hiring, equipment, another supplier, financing, or a stronger approach to generating demand.
Estimate the improvement in overall results and compare it with the full cost, including implementation, ongoing expenses, and disruption. Check that demand can support added capacity and that another limitation will not absorb most of the benefit.
Where practical, test the change on a smaller scale first. Choose an approach whose expected benefits justify the resources and risks involved.
