Check that each stage of work has the people, materials, information, facilities, and working equipment it needs before that stage is due to begin. Confirm that employees have the right skills and that suppliers can meet the required quality and delivery dates.

Plan purchases around realistic lead times, and keep stock records accurate so replenishment reflects actual needs. Where inventory is relevant, balance protection against shortages with the cost of holding unused supplies.

Maintain important equipment and address signs of failure early. Resource readiness means anticipating what the work will require and assigning someone to make sure it is available.
