PEOPLE

Manage performance and accountability

Regularly review how each person is performing against the expectations you have agreed upon, including both results and how they work with others. Give specific, timely feedback so people know what to continue and what to improve.

When results fall short, examine the reasons, including unclear priorities, skill gaps, insufficient resources, or an unrealistic workload. Agree on the improvement needed, the support available, and when progress will be reviewed.

Follow through on those commitments and address continued problems using a fair, consistent process. Apply accountability to managers and owners as well, including their responsibility to provide direction, remove obstacles, and support the people they lead.
