STRATEGY & DECISIONS
Evaluate alternatives with evidence
Before committing to a course of action, define the decision and compare realistic alternatives, including continuing the current approach, waiting, or making a smaller change. Assess each option against your goals, considering likely benefits, all future costs, required effort, and possible disadvantages.
Include the value of the best alternative you would give up by making that choice. Separate reliable facts from estimates and assumptions, and seek informed opinions that challenge your preferred option.
Money already spent should not, by itself, justify spending more. For important decisions, briefly record the reasoning and expected results so you can evaluate your judgment later.
